The dual athlete chose Kentucky over several different power house schools.
Calipari discussed the possibility of Wright, a two-sport star, also playing basketball, should he commit to the Wildcats.
Wright announced his commitment to Kentucky on his 18th birthday Dec. 21
At 6-foot-5, 225 pounds, Wright is rated as the nation's No. 22 weakside defensive end in the country according to 247Sports and is one of Stoops' highest-rated commitments, choosing UK over some of college football's powerhouse programs.
Last season, Wright averaged 19 points and nine rebounds per game en route to an All-Broward County selection in helping lead the Panthers to a state title. He averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds for Team MOAM on the Adidas travel circuit and picked up basketball offers from Virginia Tech and UNC-Wilmington. He also had an offer to play both sports at Syracuse.
This season, he's leading Dillard (15-4) in scoring and is a member of the school's 1,000-point club.
